Battlfields, Hike, Spring, Virginia

Winter is not my friend. I love the great outdoors and I have missed being in them. We took advantage of the warmer temperatures this weekend and explored the Battlefields around our town. The preserved Battlefields are one of my favorite parts of living in Virginia!

BattlefieldIt was at least 60 degrees, but we still have some lingering snow. Did I mention I don’t care for snow??

battlefield hikeWe are trying to build up our boys stamina for hiking. A year from this summer we are driving west to explore some of the national parks and we will be doing a lot of walking.

Garden StartWe already have a few sprouts! Typically, we start our own seeds instead of buying plants. This is so much fun for our boys. They really get into it when they see it from the start. This year we are planting a variety of tomatoes, radishes, carrots, lettuce, peas, and onions. We are trying seed tape this year for the radishes and carrots.  My favorite garden items are flowers. They are in the covered container. I love being able to walk outside and cut flowers for my dinner table. Daisies and zinnias are beautiful and very easy to grow.
